Detailed Private Tour Itinerary
The Full Day Tour of Ancient Corinth begins with a scenic drive along the coast from the port of Piraeus, heading west through the industrial areas of Aspropyrgos and Eleusina. Along the way, you’ll pass oil derricks and shipyards, watching cruise ships and tankers arrive from distant ports.
As you leave Eleusina, the island of Salamis comes into view, offering a glimpse of the bay where the Athenians secured victory over the Persian Empire in the historic naval Battle of Salamis in 480 B.C. The drive continues along the Argo-Saronic Gulf, passing small towns and villages for about 30 minutes, until the Peloponnesian Peninsula comes into sight.
The first stop is the Corinth Canal, where you’ll have approximately 15 minutes to admire this engineering marvel that separates the Peloponnesus from mainland Greece. From there, the tour proceeds across the Isthmus, with a 15-minute drive to the ancient city of Corinth and Acrocorinth, its hilltop fortress.
Before entering the archaeological site, a short drive around the area provides elevated views of the Temple of Apollo, the ancient Agora, the Bema (where Apostle Paul preached), the Imperial Temple, and the Fountain of Glauke. Visitors then have 60 minutes to explore the ruins at their own pace.
On the way out of Corinth, the tour makes a brief stop at the Orthodox Church of the Assumption of Mary. Here, you can view an obelisk displaying the Letters to the Corinthians in four languages, as well as a colorful Byzantine mosaic depicting Apostle Paul’s mission in Corinth.
Next, a 20-minute drive brings you to Nemea, the site of Hercules’ first labor. The first stop is the ancient stadium of Nemea, where the Nemean Games were held. You’ll also visit the Archaeological Museum of Nemea and the nearby Temple of Zeus, along with the bathing area used by ancient athletes. A visit to both the museum and the stadium takes about 40 minutes.
The tour then follows the wine roads of Nemea to a local winery. Here, a wine expert will introduce you to the estate, leading a short tour of the vineyards and facilities. You’ll be offered a selection of St. George wines for tasting, paired with light appetizers.
The tour concludes with a scenic drive back to Athens, with an option to enjoy lunch in Corinth before heading back.
